NEWS: ADIDAS YEEZY 700 RELEASES

NEWS : Yeezy 700 Sun, Bright Blue and Wave Runner With another Yeezy 700 to release shortly are we seeing a change in styling and colour palette from Adidas and Yeezy? To date the most popular / desired colourway in this silhouette is the Yeezy 700 “Wave Runner”. The  Yeezy Boost 700 "Wave Runner"  absolutely transformed the industry when it was first unveiled back in 2017 as part of Kanye West's Yeezy Season line-up. Yeezy Mafia recently confirmed that this shoe will be getting a major restock this year (predicted August). Officially dubbed the "Solid Grey", the "Wave Runner" is as premium as it gets. Colour blocked to perfection, light grey leather and suede panels are contrasted by stark black nubuck, while pops of turquoise mesh also add a touch of colour into the mix. This, combined with the use of "Semi Frozen Yellow" laces, results in an aesthetic that has certainly stood the test of time. However, following this the colour palette for

REVIEW: Seven Davis Jnr "ONE (Special Edition)

REVIEW :  Seven Davis Jnr Drops A New Version Of An Old EP 2014 I discovered Seven Davis Jnr when he dropped his FRIENDS EP.   The singer, Producer, Songwriter & rare Artist oozes talent. You can hear the influence of church in his progressive soulful house which makes sense as he trained as a gospel & jazz singer. Brought up on the vocal influences of artists such as Prince, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Other earlier influences include classical artists like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Burt Bacharach. As Seven Davis Jr evolved, his interests navigated him into the mainstream/independent world where he began listening to a more diverse range of artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Portishead, The Fugees, The Beatles, Tricky, Bjork and of course the man we all come back to J Dilla who we show love to throughout season one especially Episode 4 House music & Jungle found a young teenage version of Seven Davis Jr in the city of San Franc

REVIEW: JAEL FOLLOWS SUPURB EP WITH SPECIAL ALBUM

REVIEW : GREAT NEW MUSIC BY JAEL AND "USUALLY HE DOES DO THIS" I have been a fan of the great music coming out of the Netherlands from Fullcrate to Gaidaa to Jarreau Vandal. However rising RnB artist, producer, DJ and vocalist JAEL has been busy, just as I’m set to review his 4 track EP Unworthy he dops new album Half As Much , and it’s really good! Giovanni Jano, better known as JAEL, is a 28 year old Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ and vocalist from The Hague, The Netherlands. His passion for music began from a young age where he grew up in a household surrounded by Moluccan Folk songs, Moluccan Gospel, Soul/Funk & Japanese Funk. His parents are true Funk/Soul and R&B lovers and infected JAEL with these influences early on. JAEL embraced these sounds together with a broad variety of inspiration and combined it into his own signature sound: going from Soulful R&B to Heavy Bass Future Beats during his DJ sets but also in his production and/or songwrit

REVIEW: OMOIDE - "WHAT YOU MAKE IT"

REVIEW :  DEBUT STUDIO ALBUM BY YOUNG AND TALENTED OMOIDE So this is the first of a batch of reviews I’ve been meaning to do that are going to be coming at you thick and fast. In 2019 I discovered a mixtape / beat tape called “Good-Fi Radio, Vol 1 which I became an instant fan of. From our podcast shows you will know that I am a fan of hip-hop producers, beat tapes and the genre known as Future Beats which we covered on the podcast Episode 28 , Episode 29 . From the icons of hip hop production such as Pete Rock and DJ Premier to Lo-Fi Gods Madlib, JDilla and MFDoom there influence on the new generation is forever present. Now in recent years I’ve been blown away with the quality of the projects young producers are putting together and Omoide was one of the producers that caught my ear with that project. The Chicago-based wunderkind  OMOIDÉ  has officially released his debut studio album  “What You Make It” , so it would be rude not to have a listen and review. It contains 13 tracks i

REVIEW: Planet Giza Have Definitely Got My Attenton!

Another week another review and another hip-hop group / collective have caught my attention. Montreal alternative hip-hop trio Planet Giza have made me a new fan with new EP Don't Throw Rocks At The Moon, out now. Expect classic hip-hop delivery with fresh energy and a zest for a new generation, Don't Throw Rocks At The Moon was co-produced by frequent collaborator GMF. The crew consists of Rami B, Tony Stone and DoomX, now the bio on their Spotify states “The crew is able to reflect their multicultural background through a repertoire of divers sounds”. This is so true, I can hear influences from the great collectives such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Pharcyde, Arrested Development and Souls of Mischief. The energy, outlook and diversity of Planet Giza all make me refer to these acts, but I also hear the OVO influences that have put Canadian urban music on the map as well as the conscious and new gen delivery I associate with someone like Kid Cudi. “The crew is able t

REVIEW: Grimm Lynn's "Body-EP" Is Three Tracks Of Excellence

In episode 25 of our podcast Lee “The Newbeatmaker” and I discussed the year in review 2020 and the projects that we loved. As part of this we discussed how that the way we now consume music is so different to the past and those Long Players are now are not as prominent and that the EP / Mixtape is now the favoured way to issue a project. With streaming services, playlists are now the go to and music is so accessible and disposable the shorter project is a great way to keep the listeners attention. I mention all this as I am in love with an EP that is only 3 tracks long but I seem to keep coming back to it. Grimm Lynn’s “Body- EP” is pure fire, Atlanta-based singer, songwriter and rapper Grimm Lynn has created a seductive three-track EP that will keep you coming back for more and digging in to his previous projects.   The first song on the record, “Thirsty” has featured on our recommended playlist on Spotify for some weeks. A lush, slow-burning jam with soft percussion and velvety vo

NEWS: Upcoming Sneaker Releases March 2021

Right now, I am sick to death of sneaker releases due to the fact I have been so unsuccessful in the recent raffles for March 2021. I have missed out on the Nike Air Max 1 x CLOT, numerous Nike Dunk releases, High and Lows, but thankfully I’m not a Jordan collector as not winning of these recent releases may have pushed me over the edge However, like all good sneaker heads I am persistent and determined, hoping this is enough to bring me luck for the forthcoming raffles of which I am already entered. I thought I would take the time to share what they are and will keep you posted with my failures and successes.   1.        Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 V2 “Cream” Now I’m not actually a fan of the 700 I’m more of a 500’s man on which I own all the colourways. However I do own 2 pairs of 700’s the “Wave Runners” and the “Inertias” both purchased via retail however I do like this colourway and as I do not have many in my collection I thought I would dabble. Now for the sneaker bio – “ T
